I bought two Xoom iPad2 of different members of the family. I thought I would compare the two devices to anyone interested. Many of my comments are subjective to be taken into account when reading the magazine.
Look and feel:
The screen has a different feel iPad2 Xoom Screen - iPad2 is a bit softer, less likely to stay in short-haul. Xoom The screen tends to show fingerprints more than Ipad2 for some reason. Everyone in the family iPad2 seems clear that the Xoom.
Both weigh 1.6 pounds. Subjectively, the Xoom feels heavier than the Ipad2, but it is an illusion, perhaps due to the slightly smaller size. UPDATE: I need to learn to use scales - the Xoom is about 3 ounces heavier than iPad2.
Both have a similar size screen, measured diagonally. But the aspect ratio is different - for iPad2 4:03, 16:09 Xoom. This means that the iPad2 has a larger viewing area, and that makes a big difference when you move from one site. The screen is brighter than the screen iPad2 Xoom.
Hardware Performance:
Xoom seems a bit 'faster than iPad2, and the data show that it is faster. Both are dual-core processors based on ARM designs. Xoom seems to be able to handle the graphics better than iPad2. What is the connection to wireless networks, both seem this down pat - they both work.
User Interface:
The iPad2 is like a big iPhone. That good or bad is subjective. For me, it's good - polite, flexible and can adapt to my needs. The user interface is completely new Xoom, and unfortunately, it shows - there are many sharp edges. Some examples: moving icons in programs together is not intuitive, and they keep moving back and you can see the first 5 applications running on Xoom and choose one, but the list does not scroll to the programs do not appear in the list can not be selected, and you can not close programs (except for a peak power that can lose data) Xoom decide when to quit an application, or adaptation is possible but more difficult than iPad2. In short, Xoom UI work in progress - a lot of potential, but currently rather poor.
Operating system:
The IOS uses iPad2 Apple. It works, but uses cooperative multitasking, which (in theory) is less effective than the whole multitasking Xoom uses a version of Google's Android is designed for tablets. In practice, the two work very well and I doubt anyone would have the difference.
Applications:
iPad2 70 000 applications available on Apple's App Store, and also works 300 000 applications available for iPhone. Xoom currently has about 60 applications, and can run applications in the Android phone (but we are stretched in one direction, making them strange). IPad2 Some applications are pretty impressive - for example, GarageBand. There are many games iPad2, and only a few games of Xoom. If this does not improve rapidly, Xoom has fallen. After all applications are usually the reason people buy these devices.
Navigation:
Due to the screen aspect ratio that I mentioned, I prefer to navigate iPad2. Xoom has Adobe Flash and iPad2, but so far have not found a single case where this has been a problem. I'm sure there are numerous sites that are not compatible with iPad2, but I have not sailed one yet.
Camera:
I do not use the camera a lot and I'm not sure if one is better. The family says the owner is better Xoom Xoom owners iPad2 iPad2 said. Xoom has the flash and iPad2 not there is a gain for Xoom, Xoom, but seems slower to take a picture.
Speakers:
The Xoom has two small speakers, one speaker has iPad2 slightly larger. The sound quality was a little better and iPad2 Xoom may not reach the same volume as the iPad2. But both are pretty bad - use a headset or external speaker if you want decent sound.
Battery life:
Difficult for me to give an exact comparison, but based on the use of the family seems iPad2 has the edge here, but not much.
Internal storage
The Xoom has 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of flash storage. The iPad2 has 512 MB of RAM and 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB flash storage - I bought the 64GB model.
External Storage:
The Xoom has an external card slot supports SD card, but the software was not ready in time for the product launch. The slot does not work until Motorola releases an update to the operating system. The iPad2 has no external storage.
The user experience:
IPad2 was up and running pretty quickly. I connected the device to iTunes and will automatically update the latest version of the operating system. I was then able to select and download the software immediately and start using them.
Xoom was not so easy. For some reason I could not install the latest version of Google Maps, or Adobe Flash. I was able to download applications, and the installation process seemed to work without error, but only for new applications are not installed. For some time, trying to Xoom finally returned to the factory settings and start from scratch, and this time they worked to install. Of course, this would not be a good solution, if there were ton of applications and / or data on the device.
Support:
Apple stores. You can get a great deal of help from these magazines from people whose only job is to support users. Both users iPad2 Xoom have websites available that support their products, but you have to spend time digging sites and dig through the sites. You can also purchase AppleCare package that gives you a couple of years iPad2 additional support.
The bottom line:
Xoom I think the material might be slightly better than iPad2 (outside the aspect ratio screen and speakers), but unfortunately the software does. The Xoom was released too soon, he's not ready for prime time.

Apple iPad 2 MC769LL/A Tablet (16GB, Wifi, Black) review
For anyone out there who is considering whether to jump and buy the iPad 2, this review is for you. If you're still open for discussion between the IPAD 1 and 2 check my review of the first generation of the iPad here on Amazon to see the discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the number of people who commented (both positively and negatively) in the last 11 months.
I want to start by saying in advance, I do not work at Apple, I do not own Apple shares, and if you buy the iPad, Xoom, a laptop or a pad of paper and a pen I did not receive anything for writing this. I am not a "Fanboy" even if I can give Apple credit that are Caesar's, and more recently, Apple has gained a lot of credit for some of their products.
Physical Characteristics
The iPad is a two absurdly thin. Even more important is the thin edge of the thin hand that feels most natural. One of the biggest complaints about the original iPad, it was really nice to have an extremely long time periods. If a tablet device is expected to take place, is a very big deal. Apple has really done an outstanding job, and cramming everything up less space than before, and the difference is very obvious when you hold the device. In addition, diluted board, Apple has managed to reduce the overall weight of the iPad 2 This may not seem like a huge thing more, especially considering the weight difference is not huge when you have less than 2 pounds, but I spend a good part of the My day and my hands holding the iPad, the weight difference is not surprising that the end of the day. The first generation is not heavy by any means, but exceeds the iPad 2.
New and "improved"
Doubled the RAM from Apple iPad 2 256 512 What does it mean? For most casual users, probably not by much. It's a bump in performance for all to see the effects of things like load times web pages that are open in the background, but the 256 was enough for most everyday use, and games. If you plan to use the device, some of the most graphically intense games, the 2 iPad provides an improved method for processing graphics that will help me to provide faster movements less jerky images. If you're just an angry game birds and reading e-mail you will not know the difference.
The screen is the same for all real purposes. And 'technically a "new" part is that it is not the same old, is slightly thinner and more efficient, but has the same resolution. The glass is thinner, however, and this means a lot of weight loss from one generation to the next. In the game with the device seems surprising, but in spite of being lighter than it feels really sturdy in your hands. But I do not pretend to fall, but if he should return in 2 iPad certainly seems as it might be a better chance of surviving. Do not drop, though.
The addition of two cameras were expected. Some were a little surprised to see the first generation released without cameras. Whether it's a price point load, or a way to get people to upgrade, Apple held until the second IPAD The cameras are a reasonable job, but they do not go to replace a dedicated digital camera, or even the camera on your phone for most images. The cameras have a much better job with the video, and FaceTime is probably one of the best reasons to iPad iPad 2 on the original. For those who may not be aware, the face of Apple FaceTime to address a conference system, much like Skype, or if you prefer, like a Jetson's TV / phone. With the push of a button, you can have a conversation face to face with a loved one almost anywhere in the world (provided they are on a wireless network at the time).
FaceTime not work on 3G, built-in (it can be used over a WiFi connection is created by a 3G, though), so you will not be able to use it in the car soon. It's probably a good thing though. It is incredibly easy to use and if you know other people with an iPad 2, 4 or iPhone Mac is a lot of fun.
Smart Cover is not really "smart", but they are really useful. They not only provide a stylistic improvement of the device, but they serve a practical purpose and functional double as a screen protector and stand for two configurations. You can find them in many different colors and from the third provider market, and it's a safe bet that others will soon capitalize on the magnetic sensors in the second IPAD It is unfortunate that this same function can not somehow be adapted to an iPad, I did not think a case could be a compelling reason to consider a competitor product, but these covers are really useful, it is difficult to understand why they were not there from the beginning.
Support multitasking
One of the biggest blows against the IPAD released during the first was the lack of native support multitasking. Jailbreakers added the shortcut and Apple quickly realized that would be a requirement for success in the future and any other device issued an updated version of the operating system, which includes the function. The iPad 2 builds on the progress and it takes an extra step with the increase of RAM for applications to be more open to be suspended, at a time, and time to open or close an application has also improved. However, even the first generation was able to open and close applications faster than most people are used on their computers, and although this is an improvement, is more akin to display.
Applications
One thing Apple has a clear advantage for now is accessibility. App Store has almost 70,000 specific iPad will all work on the second iPad The new cameras will no doubt see this list grow rapidly, so will the inclusion of a gyroscope for games and applications based on movement. There is also a large number of professional applications ranging from document creation to photo editing and vector drawing. Chances are, if you can dream it, there is an app for that (and if not you can start with a hole to fill). Android Market is a strong show and eventually it will probably be a serious competitor, because now it is still a long way to go, but any potential buyer should consider the strength of the applications market before buying a tablet.
Pros:
Weight. Seriously. The minimum weight of this thing is by far the most impressive feature of this in my opinion. That seems to defy physics and logic can be both a work space so small that lasts so long.
Battery life. Full dead my iPad 2 went a little over 11 hours with the film Robin Hood, showing twice during this time that the screen at half brightness, wifi on, an angry Bird Marathon and much of a book in my iBook. It's better than a workday, and it is constantly on.
Books. It's really a professional, but could go to read anyway. The big advantage for the iPad is access to Google Book, iBook, Nook and Kindle. This allows a degree of price comparison and price (although for the most part tend to be almost the same). Reading at night in bed is as big as the backlight means you do not have to worry about keeping others to sleep, but the brightness of the LCD some difficulties when trying to read outside or near a window sunny. If you are an avid reader Kindle outdoors might be your best bet.
Disadvantages:
Still no USB support. Although it is a camera add-on that will allow some USB devices can be used is not an option for mass storage. Some of the tablets Android make this possible, and if you want to use the Tablet as an independent storage device, this might be something to consider. The device can be read with some flash, however, but is largely limited to photo and video files. Avoidance of offering solutions, but they come with their own things.
Still no dedicated SD card slot. This is problematic on two fronts. First, if you want to import photos from your camera, you must have an adapter that is only one thing to carry. Second, the lack of expansion of the means are limited to what you buy in terms of storage. I bought a 32 GB last IPAD and never completely filled, so for me the capacity was not a problem. If you want to be able to have your movie collection with you if ... You may want to consider whether the iPad two can meet your space.
HDMI output. Really is a Pro and Con. The IPAD can output HD via HDMI, but again you need a adapter. All these cards are purchasing additional features that provide tablets built in. This can be a pain, but again, if you are not likely to ever use an HDMI output so you do not pay for something you don ' use.
No Flash support. It becomes less of an issue as the Internet and Web developers are moving away from Flash for many websites, but there are many out there based on Adobe Flash to work correctly (including many Web-based games) . Before taking a pill to treat these types of sites they see regularly and try to determine if they are driven flash or not. If you can really consider something like Android supply is expected to have at least some support for Flash.
